Think of as many adjectives you can that are closely associated with the emotion you feel for them.
Now write about how you feel. Begin with a simple greeting and progessively let your words guide you to convey your message. For instance, “Thank You Jenny for coming to our engagement ceremony. Your presence was truly appreciated”
Experss the gracious offer through gratitude. Again, a simple “Thank You” would suffice.
Discuss use of the gift. Clearly, if you liked the gift so tell the recipent the marginal benefits of getting the gift itself. If you do not like the gift, simple pertain and discuss the aesthetic appeal that it provides.
Remember, it does not have to be fancy. It just has to be filled with sincerity. Small realistic statements usually do the trick. Be honest about what you mean as you do not have to confuse your reader with fancy words or terms that will confuse them. Instead, just write how you feel and your true nature of sense and emotion will pour. Remember, not everyone is Edgar Allen Poe, so your receipents know that you had good intentions behind your aspiring notes.
P.S: Here is a little secret, keep writing Thank You Notes and I promise you will get better at them.

It is important to be able to correctly write dates and times in English, especially when sending important correspondences. Any misunderstanding about a date or time for a meeting, for example, can have unwanted consequences and appear unprofessional. So, in order to avoid any errors, you can follow these rules for writing dates and times in English.
There are several ways to write a date:
The meeting will be held on 2 February.
The meeting is scheduled for 2nd of February.
Christmas day is on 25th December.
The 1st of April is April Fool’s Day.
The above examples structure the dates according to British English rules. In American English, dates can be written a little differently:
My birthday is on March 25.
The meeting is on February 4.
You will see that the month is written before the day. Note also that ordinal numbers are used when we describe dates (first, second, third and so on). The ordinal numbers are abbreviated as follows:
First – “1st”
Second – “2nd”
Third – “3rd”
Fourth – “4th”, and so on.

When writing about decades, you can spell them in full in lower case:
During the nineties, there were many job losses in Europe.
The sixties was a great decade for music and fashion.
You can, of course, use only numbers when writing decades. There is an important rule for doing so and it involves the use of an apostrophe (‘). As in the examples above (sixties, nineties) you do not use an apostrophe between the year and the “s” when writing a decade in numerals:
In the 1990s, there was high unemployment in Europe.
In the 1960s, there were lots of new pop bands.
However, when you write the decade with an incomplete numeral, you need to use the apostrophe in place of the first two missing numbers:
During the ‘90s, there were lots of people without jobs.
During the ‘60s, the Beatles had lots of hit records.
It is incorrect to write:
During the ‘90′s, people had no jobs.
During the ‘60′s, people bought lots of Beatles records.
There is one crucial circumstance when you do use the apostrophe and that is when the date becomes and adjective describing a noun:
I like 1960′s music (music of the 1960s).
I study 1920′s fashion (the fashion of the 1920s).
When you use words to spell out the time of day, you need to also write out in full the quarter and half hours. If you use “o’clock”, the number is always spelled out in full:
She starts work at nine o’clock in the morning every day.
He studies from five thirty until seven thirty in the evening OR He studies from half past five until half past seven in the evening.
What time is it? It’s three fifteen OR It is a quarter past three.
For clarity, it is best to use numerals when you need to emphasise exact times:
The train arrives at 10.04 a.m. (a.m. is morning/before noon – ante meridiem)
His flight departs at 13.40 p.m. (p.m. is afternoon/after noon – post meridiem)
You can also write 10.04 AM and 13.40 PM.
When referring to 12.00 a.m. or 12.00 p.m., it is better to use noon/midday or midnight. Remember that being clear and concise is the most important thing when writing dates and times.

Freelance Writing Complainers: Should They Just Get Over It?

This is the second version of this article. In the first version I realised that my entire article about complaining had become nothing more than a complaint in itself; which was kind of missing the point.
And that point is … that too many writers seem to be complaining about their job rather than enjoying it.
Freelance. Let’s look at that word for a moment. It clearly has connotations of freedom. Of choice. Of living the life that you want to live.
And yet so many freelancers seem to spend a large amount of their valuable time complaining about their job and other writers.
I’ve identified two main groups of freelance complainers. Let’s take a look…
1. Those for Whom Freelance Writing Does Not Pay Enough
I know all about this particular group of complainers because I used to be one myself. When I first started to write for a full-time living it did indeed seem that the work was very low paid.
To be honest, I only really complained to myself for having chosen this job in the first place. It was not living up to expectations, mainly because I was slaving away for hours a day with very little to show for it at the end.
“Where are all the high-paying clients?” became something I asked myself every day. “Surely it’s got to be better than this?”
I know it’s not only me who has had such thoughts because I see these comments all the time in forums, blog comments, and articles.
So are these complaints ever justified?
Why They Should Get Over It

Writers who complain about jobs not paying enough need to get over it because they could be directing this towards finding better-paying work.
Which does exist.
Higher-paying work is out there. Believe it or not, there really are clients who want to pay hundreds of dollars for a well-written article.
But these clients are not the ones who post ads on Craigslist. They are not the ones who look for writers on bidding sites.
These are the clients who never actually post ads for their work, but instead give it to those writers who are bold and innovative enough to go and look for it.
There is no secret formula, no ‘list’ of all the best clients. You have to find them, you have to seek them out. It takes a lot of time, effort, and rejections. You need a thick skin.
But it’s worth it.
2. Those For Whom Too Many Writers Work for Too Little
These other complainers have a very different preoccupation. Instead of worrying about the lack of high-paying work, they complain about the writers who charge low rates.
Sometimes the language used can be quite harsh when a ‘professional’ writer criticizes another for failing to charge the rates that they should.
They reason they feel it is any of their business in the first place is that the writers working for a pittance are not only hurting themselves but are hurting everyone else, that they are somehow lowering the standard so that all writers will soon have to work for these low rates.
Obviously this would be quite annoying for the writers earning a good wage … if it were true.
Why They Should Get Over It
Freelance writing is like any other business, and competition is part of it. Writers who charge $1 a page are competing with those who charge $1 a word, and they are perfectly entitled to work for such rates if they want to.
If you don’t want to work for such low rates, you don’t have to.
Clients are well aware that, like most other things in life, they get what they pay for. Some might not understand this at first, but they will work it out soon enough.
They will work out that it takes hours to construct a convincing, well-structured, well-researched web page or in-depth article. And that when they pay $5 for an article this high quality they are seeking is rarely, if ever, what they get.
One of the true joys of this job is being able to set your own rates, rates that you think are fair and which you are happy to work for.
I charge higher than some writers; and a lot lower than others. But I have my reasons. I know that by charging lower I can bring in more work on a regular basis, and that suits me just fine.
But no one else should be complaining about it.
Chill Out
This article is not supposed to be a complaint in itself, but more of an observation. To be honest, I don’t really mind what any other writers are doing because it does not affect me.
And if I’m not worried about it, why should you be?

Are you one of those people, who feels like their grasp of english needs working on?
Maybe you are an accomplished writer, but often let yourself down by making silly grammatical mistakes?

That’s usually when I have suggested that they start a new sentence with the word ‘and’ to make it flow better, or when I’ve said to divide a long sentence into two, rather than use a semi colon.
Some may find it shocking to learn that probably the only person to use the Queen’s English these days is – the Queen. In fact I’ve a suspicion she may have been the only person who ever used it. I remember hearing a voice coach analyse a speech she made when she was 16, and commented that he had never heard language, or pronounciation like it, before or since!
I was told at school never to start a sentence with the words and, but or so; to only start a new paragraph when you start a new idea. Maybe you were, too. And purists can get very upset if you break the rules.
But rightly or wrongly, the rules of Queen’s English do not always apply to modern writing. Today, you write for your reader, not for your teacher or Her Majesty.
So you may need to break some rules of grammar to make sure your copy reads more fluently. It all depends who you’re writing for – or, to say it correctly, for whom you’re writing!
If your copy is intended for English scholars or lovers of literature, you would use the traditional rules of grammar, and would be frowned upon if you didn’t.
But if you’re writing for any other medium – the web, a magazine, a newspaper – you should always analyse its writing style, before you start. Look at the lengths of the sentences, the lengths the paragraphs, the types and lengths of the words used, and whether the tone is formal or relaxed.
Then you write accordingly, knowing that you have carried out the writer’s primary objective: to write in a style that your reader – not your teacher – understands.
