Ranking a website for competitive keywords can be an extremely hard task. A lot of people find that writing articles and submitting them to top directories like EzineArticles is a good way to rank and here is why…

Revenue sharing means, that you as an author, will share income generated by clicks on Google Ads from your articles pages with the site owner. Some sites offer 10% and others 50% and if you are lucky you could share a bumper share of 75%.

Step 1

The first step would be is to get an AdSense account. Google AdSense and register for a free account to receive a publisher ID.

Register on a revenue sharing site and submit your publisher ID.

New To Article Marketing? First Step To Getting Started

You’ve tried pay per click. You’ve even tried social media platforms, but you just can’t get any traction. So what to do? Article marketing, that’s right! This article is for those new to article marketing and assumes you know absolutely nothing about how to make money writing articles. This article is to show you the easiest way to get you ranked number one on Google to maximize traffic to your site.

No, I’m not trying to insult you. The fact is, 98 out of 100 courses offered online purporting to teach you how to this or that, assumes the reader is at the same knowledge level as they are. Hence, the reason why so few actually finish the course or ever execute anything. There is nothing more frustrating than spending your cash on something that you find out is written for someone who has extensive WordPress knowledge that you don’t, for example.

Let’s skip right to the point. You are new to article marketing and need help getting started. The goal is to get your article ranked number one on Google. My suggestion to you is to use a long tail keyword in the title. A long tail keyword is a logical extension of a root keyword.

For example ‘article marketing‘ is a root keyword. A long tail keyword may be ‘article marketing strategy’. The reason for this is simple. You are promoting a specific product right? Then why would you use general keywords for people just looking for information?

This leads me to a major point. You want to target buyers. You want people who have the information and have made a decision to buy. Somebody searching ‘article marketing‘ is looking for information. Someone searching ‘article marketing course’, or ‘best article marketing course’, knows that they want a course, and is looking for a product. They are probably new to article marketing and need some help.

The closer you narrow down your target the better. Here is an example. Let’s say someone is a collector of antique sewing machines. They regularly scout garage sales, ebay and other places to buy. Here’s how their search may break down. ‘sewing machines’? No, too general. Maybe ‘sewing machines for sale’? Nope, this will bring people looking for new machines. How about ‘antique sewing machines for sale’? BINGO!

You are selling stuff, whether it is tangible or information. Don’t waste your time talking to tire kickers! Go to Google and test this example. Make sure you put your search phrase in parenthesis. This will yield results that match the exact phrase, not just variations. What is your competiton for ‘antique sewing machines for sale’? Do you think you have a good shot at ranking on the first page?

The best place to start for those people new to article marketing, to search for keywords is Google Keyword Tool. Fool around in there and see the different variations of how to search. Sort your search by competition. Ideally you want to have high search volume(shown globally and locally) with low competition(shown with blue bar).

The reason you want a long tail keyword in your title is because it has a greater likelihood of being ranked on the first page of Google. Make sure your long tail keyword isn’t ten words. It should be no more than 5 words. Ideally 3 or 4. This makes it easier to use it naturally in the article as well which will help it rank higher. You will want to use it about once per 75-100 words.

Being new to article marketing, or anything for that matter, is exciting. It’s a chance to challenge yourself.

Is Article Marketing The Best Free Traffic Strategy?

In my opinion, yes, article marketing gives you a chance to not only share information people are looking for, but it allows you to make a bond with the reader. You can inject your personality into your writing.

My favorite thing to do in my writing is to first make a statement. Then I describe a personal experience that relates to, and validates the statement. Remember, facts tell, stories sell. It can be absolutely anything.

If you take a quiet moment and think, you can relate any experience you had that day, to a statement. Let me give you an example.

I wrote a quick article after I watched guitar legend Steve Vai in concert on TV. It struck me how different his delivery, or performance was. Sure there are other great guitar players out there, but he differentiated himself by the way he delivered it.

My point was, how do you differentiate yourself from your competition who have the same information or product as you? What makes you different?

The more you practice this, these thoughts will just start coming to you effortlessly.

I Can’t Write Good Articles

You may find yourself saying this because of the last example I gave. Your articles may be just some basic fact by fact layout. Your articles don’t even interest you! I highly recommend using the ‘story’ exercise. Make your facts ‘pop’ by injecting a story which the reader will take interest in. Entertain your reader.

Go to ezinearticles.com for example, and type in the keyword phrase or topic you are writing about. Read the top ten articles. What makes them different? Anything? Most offer no value other than the facts they provide. That is great if the reader is specifically looking for those facts and knows what they need. But those who don’t yet know what they are looking for will not find that article any more valuable than the next.

I have given my best suggestion on how to write interesting articles above. It is appropriate to add links wherever you have a keyword that could link to another page on your website and it will help you rank better and overall help your Marketing strategy.
