A common mistake made by many internet marketers is to enter a market with massive competition. The reason for this is clear – if a market is overcrowded and very competitive then you can bet that there is a lot of profit to be made. But this leads to a herd of marketers all competing for this market and only the strongest will survive. Often the strongest are those with the biggest budget to plow into the market at the beginning.
For most marketers it is highly advised that you focus your attentions on niche markets. You can learn about this in niche blueprint. If you avoid the mainstream you can deal with far less competition and take the bulk of the profit. Often people in smaller niche markets are not professional marketers, but regular people trying to make some extra dollars with a hobby or interest.
In order to start in niche marketing I would recommend you do a good deal of market research right from the start. If you can correctly figure out a market you will know exactly which keywords you can target and realistically compete in, and which keywords are making money.
When you have done thorough market research and have a good niche targeted you have a choice:
You can either create your own product, market an affiliate product or create an e-commerce site either selling directly or using a drop-shipper. If you have correctly done your market research then this will be the easy bit and you should find a good stream of customers willing to purchase from you.
